A worksplate from 55009 was sold by a private collector on 16th January by Great Central Railwayana Auctions at auction for £2200. The worksplate with the front repainted and the back in original condition had its BR sales paperwork from Rail Curios, York including acceptance of offer and till receipt. This compared with a worksplate from 55016 that was sold in November 2009 for £1750. This worksplate was stripped back to bare brass and mounted on a presentation board. Of interest is that at the same auction a headboard from ‘The Shamrock’ , boat train London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street service, often hauled by the Prototype Deltic failed to reach its reserve of £2000.
