 Royal Highland Fusilier bodywork repairs 

The inner skin below one of the engine room windows showing the corrosion. The metal pulled away is the panel that BR added around each engine room window.
Although the bodywork may apear ok from the outside with a coat of paint on it this, and the next three, photos show the condition of the inner face of the outer skin.

Like a snake shedding its skin the second half of the A side outer skin was removed in one piece by Roger Radcliffe.
With the frame work preparation work at number two end nearly complete work has started on number one end.
Despite being undercover now for almost a year the lower body insulation was still full of water.
Water pours out of the insulation. The smell of this stagnant water is extremely nasty![photo:Stuart Page]
Much of the original insulation had been replaced by BR with a mixture of Rockwool and expanding foam as shown here. Both hold water extremely well! [photo:Stuart Page]

Remember the photo from July of the air box?
With the old metal (what was left of it) cut away new steel is welded in.
After the metal work is all cleaned it is primed ready to receive undercoat and top coat.
No2 end drivers footstep.
