News55 022’s appearance on railtour duties this weekend has been made possible by assistance from the DPS. An engine governor has been loaned to Martin Walker as one of those fitted to 55 022 had proved defective. This is the second assistance in as many months as 55 022 is also running with an engine overspeed trip that was loaned to enable the Mallaig trip to go ahead.

AlycidonAnother successful weekend by the Society when we attended this event held at Buckingham Railway Centre.
D9009 performed without fault carrying many passengers including the local Lord Mayor, on the BRC demonstration line.

The Sales Stand was kept fairly busy with reasonable takings being produced. Alongside a few of the usual regulars, Ian L, Richard S, Graham C, Ray E, James W and Mike H-R it was good to see both some old and new faces. Andy & Tara Brown, Antony Everett, Nigel Benning, Colin Easton, Darrell & Natalie Marsh, Roger W (after a 25 yr gap from the Nort East Sales).Hope I have not forgotten anbody. Many thanks to all of you and we hope to see you again.

Ian was able to make a few useful contacts for his forthcoming Finsbury Park event and it was good to meet many of the people who had helped in many ways with the design, development and contsruction of our locos witha good turnout from the NPHT and many old Acton/Newton Le Willows staff.

Editorial help required Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

VolunteersWith my main job being in the engineering team looking after the Deltics of which this will always be the case, I need someone who is happy and has the time in converting hand written stories from members into Word documents for inclusion in the Deltic Deadline. Also required are some engineering documents that need either rescanning or recreating from scratch into Word for re-editing. These may need restructuring for ease of reading in A5 size.

Photo scanning would also be of great help in general for the whole of the DPS in converting these to electronic files and the data of each pictures also recorded.

Anyone fancy helping out from home with any of these projects please get in contact with your editor via the 'Contact Us' section (left).

At a previous board meeting your new Editor Stuart Page was elected to continue the cause with DD183. This has now been sent out to all of you so should be landing through your letterbox in a few days time. Thanks to Charlie, Craig, James, Graham, Mike and David for helping out.

With Additional member, Membership and VLO under the belt over the years another board position is being ticked off the list.

Some of you may be aware of my involvement with the DPS from when the society was formed way back in 1977 to present day. Being involved with the engineering side of our locomotives and Martin's 55022. Also project leader of the ECML Trainz route being built for the cab simulator of 55008. My work will still continue unrestricted on my love with the locos coming first.

My job as editor will be rather difficult in trying to fill the pages with articles as only 2 magazine's worth of material for stories is available at present. So all of you out there please get writing. On photographs, get snapping at ALL Deltic events all over the country this year please and have a look for photos of those BR days.

Thanking you,
Stuart Page
