This year's Annual Members Day will take place at the Nene Valley Railway on September 19th.

Following the final return to Wansford there will be a B-B-Q at approx 15.00, all welcome.

UPDATE: After the BBQ D9009 will work the 16.35 to Yarwell then Peterborough, returning from Peterborough at 17.30.

There will be a Raffle on each train with cab rides sales vouchers and membership as prizes.

Travel for DPS Members will be free of charge when travelling in the 2 coaches reserved for DPS Members, all other travel will be chargeable at the normal rate.
Member's Guests are welcome in these coaches but will be expected to pay the NVR the normal ticket fare.

The B-B-Q is FREE to members but all donations will be gratefully accepted, there will be a small nominal charge to Non Members.

We are pleased to announce that D9009 ALYCIDON passed its UAT exam and equalising beam inspection at the Nene Valley Railway today. Consequently, we can confirm that the DPS Members Day event will go ahead at the NVR on Saturday 19th September as planned.

The DPS would like to record its gratitude to the Great Central Railway, who had offered to keep 55019 on the line to enable the society to hold its member's event on the GCR instead, had D9009 been found to require attention.

Alycidon was re-railed today by Arlington Fleet Services. Subject to satisfactory ultrasonic tests it will be working as advertised at the Nene Valley Railway 1968 event on Saturday and Sunday 12th & 13th September.

1968 The Final Days The NVR is sorry to advise that due to circumstances beyond our control the 1968 The Final Days event has been postponed, the event will now take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2009. Watch the NVR web site for full details

The photo shows the loco after re-railing the items in front of the near bogie are the jacking arms that were used during the re-railing.

Alycidon suffered a slow speed derailment at the Nene Valley Railway while running light engine on Saturday 5th September. This resulted in all 6 wheels of one bogie coming off the rails. The cause of this is still to be established.

Royal Highland Fusilier was loaded by Allelys at Barrow Hill on 2/09/09 and delivered to the Great Central Railway ready for the diesel gala on 11th-13th September.

The usual group of volunteers at the depot today and some good progress made. The electrical fault on 55019 that has been causing issues for a few months when power unit 2 is running and you start power unit 1, power unit 2 shuts down. This has been traced to a faulty contact, which has since been swapped out and the fault is now resolved. The injectors fitted before the Barrow Hill diesel gala have been checked and are ok. On power unit 1 a split pipe to the oil pressure gauge has been changed. While outside touch up painting was started on the bogies. The traction motors have been greased. With all this and previous weeks work it means 55019 exam has now been completed and she is ready to go to the Great Central Railway. On Tulyar prep work has began for internal painting. A member of the DPS requested to do nameplate rubbings of Royal Highlander Fusilier and of The Green Howards.

The two remaining existing driver experience days at the Nene Valley Railway using D9009 Alycidon are now over subscribed. We are looking to add an additional date (Tuesday September 22nd) to the programme, and three places on this have already been provisionally sold.

UPDATE 22/08/09: The additional driver experience date on September 22nd has now been confirmed and there are now ONLY THREE places remaining.

An additional running day on Bank Holiday Monday (August 31st) has also been added to the NVR programme.
