Wensleydale Railway Gala Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

RHFUnfortunately due to logistical problems we have decided not to send 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' to the forthcoming Wensleydale Gala on September 20th/21st. This decision was made with regret and we offer our apologies to the Wenslydale Railway and anybody who had planned to make the journey.

I have spoken to the event organiser at the Wensleydale and they understand the reasons for our decision. We have been offered a return journey back home to Barrow Hill courtesy of West Coast Railways and thanks to Martin Walker who will be providing 55022 'Royal Scots Grey' for the move, after the Heaton Open Day for Northern Rail on Sunday September 14th. This event is open to the public from 10.00-16.00, please see the story below for further details.

55019 undertook its first runs on Network Rail since the end of 2005 on the evening of August 16th with a successful outing from Grosmont to Whitby and Battersby as part of the DPS Members Day. It was also the first ever appearance of a blue Deltic at Whitby, the only other example known to have visited being 55002 in 1981 when it carried two-tone green livery.

A few photos from the day can be found in the gallery section of the website.
