The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has announced that, owing to the ongoing Covid-19 public health crisis, its planned Diesel Gala, due to take place on June 26th-28th, has been cancelled. 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' had been booked to appear at the event.

As many of you will know, the DPS depot has been closed since before the lockdown back in March and will remain as such until advice is received from the Government and other bodies that will allow the reopening of the site. A review took place on May 23rd, and a number of tasks have been identified which will need to be completed before any work begins on the locos. This, all being well, will bring normality back sooner rather than later in a safe structured manner.

Currently, only a limited number of individuals are authorised to visit the DPS depot, and for specific purposes only. Should anyone need access to the depot (which will only be permitted on Monday-Fridays only), please contact either Mike Hallam-Rudd or Darrell Marsh. A further review will take place on June 6th.

Our Publicity Officer's second article looking at our locos during the May 1980 to May 1981 period appears in the June 2020 issue of Railways Illustrated which is now available. This time, Paul Gildersleve concentrates on the workings of 55015 'Tulyar'.
