The Deltic Preservation Society owns three locomotives, one of which – D9009 Alycidon - is main line registered and another - 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier – is currently operational and available for preserved line use.
D9009 is fully mainline certified and able to haul charter trains and undertake ‘drag’ moves to/from preserved railways and galas. In recent years, the loco has undertaken rail-tour work for various tour promoters including Pathfinder Tours, UK Railtours, Retro Railtours and the A1 Steam Loco Trust, and has also been used to haul locos to events at preserved railways around the country. The loco is fitted with both air and vacuum brakes and has operational ETH equipment.
NB D9009 is currently out of traffic and not available, however, we welcome any enquiries for potential future hires once the loco is back in service.
Preserved Railway Hire
As well as being available for use on the main line, D9009 can also be used on preserved railways and has during the past few years operated on several railways. 55019 is also available for use on preserved railways, and also has both air and vacuum brakes and has visited many lines for one-off galas, driver experience courses and longer term visits of several months.
Over the years, our locos have been displayed at many Open Days and other events, most recently at Grantham and Doncaster alongside steam loco ‘MALLARD’.
