Barrow Hill - August 1st 2021

Another busy day, as Beth Marsh reports:

Work continued with the external bodyside paintwork, attention was paid to the lower skirt section where the lighter two-tone colour would be and around one of the engine room windows, both of which received to coat of BR Green. With the marking out of a warning panel on No.2 nose end completed in previous weeks the area was undercoated in preparation for a top coat next week. The buffers were also given another coat of red paint. Other activities included the securing of the cant rail which runs along the length of the locomotive, another task to be completed next week when we have acquired some more fixings.

No.8's Cab

With the cab now all repainted, time was spent touching up areas that had previously been masked off. Attention was paid to the tail light pockets which have been painted white inside and are ready for the lenses refitting. In other work outside the Depot, the footstep from the cab on the second mans side has been away for repair. Due to being more exposed to the weather when situated outside the Depot corrosion had caused some damage to the step, this has now been repaired and back at the Depot the step was given a coat of primer.
