In memory of Roger Newling-Goode

The wreath that the loco was carrying (made by Helen Allgood) was in memory of Roger Newling-Goode who passed away late last year. Roger was a life long rail enthusiast and became heavily involved in the DPS shortly after it’s inception.

He was Deltic deadline editor for many years and latterly public relations officer , with the responsibility of raising the DPS profile, and more importantly funds for the saving of the two original locomotives from BR. Roger was very proud of what the society has achieved and the friends he made along the way.

I am sure he was watching over the proceedings and raising a pint with our other absent friends ( who else do we think arranged that rainbow on the last trip !?).

Roger’s son Adrian would like to thank the DPS for allowing the loco to carry the wreath and also for the members that not only attended the funeral, but also passed on their condolences whether this be virtually or in person.
