Top Doncaster Works Engineer to speak at DPS AGM on March 7th

Attendees at this year’s AGM to be held at the NRM, York, on Saturday March 7 are in for a treat, for this year’s Lord Nelson Memorial Lecture speaker is a gentleman who we have been hoping to entice for some time to give us his recollections of his many years associated with the Deltics in the Plant.

Mike Crabtree will regale the audience of his life and times in the Crimpsall shops as he and his colleagues faced the daily battle to finish any work, planned or unscheduled, on the Class 55s and so get them back into service - the punctuality of the ECML depended on it! Mike was one of the organisers of that incredible and unforgettable Open Day on February 27, 1982 when enterprising Works’ staff threw open the Plant doors to allow some 8,000 people to troop in to pay their last respects to the 13 remaining Deltics, spread around the site. Come and hear how he and his friends did it!

So, besides hearing an update on all things DPS - what a year eh? - you will be assured of some superb entertainment. Please do come along for a great day out.

Non-members are also invited to attend the Lord Nelson Memorial Lecture, which will begin at around 13.00.
