Locomotive Hire

The DPS owns 3 Class 55 Deltics: 

55009 ALYCIDON which is currently certified for Network Rail and is likely to be available for both main line and heritage line hire later in 2026. The loco is dual braked. Steam Heat is not available

55019 ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER has been our stalwart for 40 years on the heritage circuit, as well as a stint on Network Rail in the early 2000s. It is currently ‘stopped’ pending maintenance works and the installation of both OTMR & GSMR equipments to make it compliant for NR operations - hopefully this should be completed later in 2026.  The loco is dual braked. Steam Heat not available.

Finally, D9015 TULYAR which has not worked since 13th April 1997 but has now been started and is due to be moved to the Great Central Railway in 2026 for running in trials and possible special events. It is the DPS' ambition to have all three locomotives NR registered.
