Depot report 1/7/25

Depot report. 1/7/25

Investigations into the low power from No.1 engine (408) in Alycidon continued today at Barrow Hill. Most people at the previous 2 galas noticed that the loco wasn’t preforming as it should. The quadrant on the engine governor was only getting to 8 degrees, instead of the normal 12.5 degrees when the controller was on full power.

The in line fuel filter was checked for blockages, but was fine and also the 2 fuel filters on the power unit were changed.

The reg air from the controllers to the governor was also checked, and was set at the correct pressure.

So the next job is to change the engine governor to see if this will rectify the low power issue.

More progress was made with power unit 430 which saw the remaining air ducting for the main generator fitted, as well as the auxiliary fitted.

A start was made securing the new floor in #1 end of Tulyar, and some detail painting was undertaken, including the name plates and restoring the red BR Timken lettering on the axle box covers.
