There’s a racehorse on the loose!

A major milestone is achieved for D9015 Tulyar today as the loco is departing Barrow Hill and being moved to the GCR by our friends from Allelys Heavy Haulage.

It will be unloaded at Quorn this afternoon and then taken up to the depot at Loughborough.

First appointment for Tulyar is for it to be on static display outside the shed at the diesel gala this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The loco will be open for cab visits.

Various members of the team closely involved with the restoration will be on hand over the three days and will be happy to chat about the various trails and tribulations encountered on the journey so far. We are sure the old girl still has some challenges in store for us yet!

This move marks the entry into the very final stages of the locomotives mammoth restoration, with D9015 undergoing a period of testing which, if all goes smoothly, will see the loco passed of as ready for traffic for the first time in over 29 years!

A new chapter in the history of Deltic preservation is about to begin.
