DEPOT REPORT FOR SATURDAY 11th JANUARY.

Updated: Jan 19

Firstly a Big Thank You to all those volunteers who turned up this weekend in sub zero temperatures, it was minus 7 deg on arrival on Saturday but, regardless, they all soldiered on with no less that 18 people present.

The work for the day was quite varied including a couple of meetings during the lunch and the afternoon period.

In the Depot work continued with the ongoing Stores project with more items found, cleaned, and logged before being put in the appropriate crates.

Power Unit 423 work started on removing items for repair, servicing or replacement as a part of the plan to return this engine into a serviceable condition, both the unit and phasing case have fairly low hours on them. Among the items removed were the bottom crank case cover, oil pump and a few sundry items to make some of the hoses we will be changing more accessible. The Phasing case will go away to our contractor, Compact Orbital Gears, for a strip, clean, and assessment. Please see the link to to the Go Fund Me Appeal for this project. Hopefully this one will require limited work as did the one from 430.

55009 A project has been started on some remedial attention to areas of bodywork prior to repainting where required. The Route Indicator Glass at No 2 end was removed to give access to some small areas of corrosion, nothing serious. We also now have some replacement Quarter Light Windows for both secondmans' window frames, these being cleaned up ready for refitting.

D9015. The 'Delectricans' were again fault finding on a few of the circuits following a fault on the last start up, it's looking very promising. The new cables for the Engine Room Fire Suppression System have now been fitted to the fire bottles in both nose ends.

55019 stored undercover and dry at the Great Central Railway. Winter work to be started within the next 10 days.
