More progress on Tulyar

After the rough running on the second engine had been sorted, we were able to give 9015 a few runs on the branch at Barrow Hill as part of its shakedown testing. Three issues presented themselves. An easily fixed oil leak and a not so easily fixed oil radiator leak, along with a compressor which wasn’t sounding too healthy and not working as effectively as it should.

The decision was made to fit two recently overhauled “zero hour” compressors, giving the locos maintenance record a “start date” for both units. Certainly not the easiest job in the world but over the last few working parties the compressor swops have taken place and all that remains is for the wiring to be connected up.

Today’s working party changed the faulty oil radiator for a newly overhauled one.

It’s much more convenient to find out these minor issues at the locos home base and get them sorted before it goes back into traffic.
