As part of the process of returning 55019 to the main line, the traction motors condition was tested and one was found to have poor insulation, risking failure when performing the rigorous a main line locomotive goes through.
With a serviceable spare in stock, we approached HNRC with a view to them carrying out the work. Thanks to the positive reply HNRC were contracted to do the work. The work commenced on Monday 25th with the loco being returned to the depot on Wednesday 27th March. From the initial enquiry to completion today the whole process was completed within a month. The photos show 55019 and the faulty traction motor after being returned to the depot.
