A major milestone is achieved for D9015 Tulyar today as the loco is departing Barrow Hill and being moved to the GCR by our friends from Allelys Heavy Haulage. It will be unloaded at Quorn this afternoon and then taken up to the depot at Loughborough. At the Nene Valley Railway in May 2024 55009 Alycidon suffered an engine failure of Power Unit 451. On return to the DPS depot the power unit was manually barred over confirming the triangle part of the engine along with the auxiliary generator were turning as expected however the main generator was static, pointing to a failure in the phasing case, likely the generator drive shaft. 55019 returned to Barrow Hill at the end of October 2025 as planned with the engineering team. This was to allow us the longest possible time to get the locomotive ready for 2027. The restoration of Tulyar has now reached the point where the engineers can begin the long awaited “Return To Service” exam, after the faults with the vacuum brake system were rectified.
